Fractions Activities | Round-Up

If you’ve ever taught upper grades math, I think you’d agree that the fractions foundation that gets laid in the primary grades is super important! The fractions work gets so deep, so quickly in 3rd grade and beyond. We 2nd grade teachers have an important job in making sure that our kiddos know the basics before they leave us!

Today, I’m sharing a round up of some of my favorite fractions activities! If you’re looking to add to your resource collection this year, I have a variety of differentiated, hands-on, engaging, and rigorous activities for your classroom. You can find each of these products in my TPT store.

Foodie Fractions

Fractions and food go together so perfectly! This activity pack gives you a fresh spin on some already pretty classic fractions work. Students can create fraction pizzas, use colorful candy to create fractions, design their own box of donuts, and so much more!

Fractions Journal Prompts

I have these journal prompts for every math unit you can teach in 2nd grade. These journal prompts can be projected or printed and cut out for students to glue in math notebooks. They practice each of the Common Core Math Standards for the unit, ensuring that your students are writing about their thinking through every lesson you teach! Print and cut them out at the beginning of a new unit, and have them ready to go as a great warm-up at the beginning of each math block!

Fractions Choice Board

I also have choice boards for every 2nd grade domain! These choice boards make great early finisher activities, center work, or even could be sent home as homework during that teaching unit. The possibilities are endless, and the prep is super minimal!
